The world is gone. For five years, Joshua Pace has been trying to survive with a group of others in what remained after the Shatter. Driven forward by rumors of another surviving city, told by a family coming in from the Out - the toxic wasteland that now covers most of the Earth - Joshua and the others must decide the best path to survival: stay in their town with dwindling supplies, or brave the toxic wasteland in hopes for a better future.
Originally started off as a r/WritingPrompts reply that evolved into a short story.
The Builders is a short story of a team of NASA scientists that discover a strange signal coming from light-years away. Working together, they try to understand the source of the meaning of the signal that is clearly trying to tell them something, only to discover something that changes everything for them.
